There are only a few artists that are making it to country radio right now that could do a Joe Diffie song proud. Jon Pardi is one of them. Pardi’s cover of “Prop Me Up Beside The Jukebox” gives me hope that artists like him are ushering in a new golden era of classic country.
When Joe Diffie passed away earlier this year, Country Music lost a great artist and a good man. One of his biggest hits, “Prop Me Up Beside The Jukebox” has stood the test of time and might just be more popular today than it was in 1993.
Pardi’s rendition didn’t change it up a lot, which is good. He’s got the steel guitar, the fiddle, and his voice sounds great in the live performance.
I will say, I sure would like to hang-out in that barn that he’s performing in. That place looks awesome!
I’m 100% sure Jon Pardi’s “Prop Me Up Beside The Jukebox” (If I Die) will never make it to top 40 County radio. It is, however, a good omen of what the future of country music could sound like.
